Guillermo and Feldhoffer prove it on the route to the Mirador de Gebas and Álex, Pérez and Aguilera hold their own

V Vuelta a las Comarcas Región de Murcia
Stage 1: Alcantarilla – Mirador de Gebas (76,7 km)

British double in an opening day of the Vuelta a las Comarcas that had to modify its final part due to the possibility of landslides in the last kilometres. An initial stage in which, on the part of the team directed by Guillermo Gutiérrez, Lucas Guillermo or the Magyar Balint Feldhoffer tried it and in which both Álex García and Nil Aguilera displayed their climbing skills.

Despite numerous breakaway attempts, the stage was dominated by a large group. The breakaways, their attempts, were a constant, but the differences were always minimal and only a fall, which occurred in the first third of the stage, managed to break the large group temporarily.

Although in La Cola del Caballo some possibilities had been outlined, with Aguilera and Álex García crowning in the first positions, the passage through Sierra Espuña emerged as the key point for the resolution of the stage and for the clarification in the fight for the general classification.

There, in the last 15 kilometres, the British riders Oliver Peace and Jacob Bush put on a small exhibition while behind, always about 30 seconds behind, a chasing group varying in the number of riders, initially six riders and later up to twenty, tried to reduce the gap as much as possible. Álex García, César Pérez and Nil Aguilera arrived in this group.

In a second group, a minute behind the British duo, Lucas Guillermo, Pedro García and Balint Feldhoffer finished.
