In a race with a multitude of attacks from the beginning, in a spiral of minimal differences, it was the rider from La Rioja Lucas Guillermo who gave presence to the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team in a breakaway of thirteen riders. Halfway through the race a group of ten riders in which the Cantabrian rider David Puente rode stood out in the lead and achieved an advantage of around one minute over the bunch. At the first pass through Olaberria, Puente would drop back to the lead group.
