Carlos Rodríguez triumphs in the Trofeo Castillo de Onda and is the first leader of Víctor Cabedo
VIII Trofeo Castillo de Onda
Onda-Onda (80 km)
Driven by the fourth and fifth place of Javi Serrano and Francisco José Terciado, who reached 9 and 15 seconds respectively, the Kometa Cycling Team won the general team of a first stage in which the Madrid team enjoyed much presence in the race and also extracted the provisional leadership prize from the general sprints special hand of Francesc Bennassar.
The bad news came from the crashes that affected both Juan José Rosal and Pablo Gutiérrez. The second, who had to change bikes a couple of times, had discomfort in one of his wrists for which he was going to undergo a medical examination.
“From the beginning I have been feeling good, even though it was the first race of the year. Maybe I lacked a bit of rhythm, but I think that little by little I’m going to get it. Today, as the race went on, I felt better. The truth is that my legs accompanied me and in the end I felt strong to win. I’m very happy, the sensations were good and that’s the most important thing”, explains Rodríguez.
Guillermo Gutiérrez, sports director of the Kometa Cycling Team: “It has been a very, very fast race, with many falls, with a point of danger because of the sinuous terrain on which the race has developed. Both Juanjo and Pablo have had a couple of important falls and in Pablo’s case we are going to see what happens to his wrist in the hospital”. Regarding the development of the test, adds the Cantabrian: “The team has been ten. Carlos had the mission of attacking in the last port and has fulfilled the plan to perfection”.
This Sunday will take place the second stop of the Trofeo José Cabedo, the thirty-first edition of the Trofeo Entrada de Toros y Caballos de Segorbe (93.7 km).
