From 13 to 17 July
With the arrival of the middle of July, also the arrival of one of the most important commitments of the season for the U23 structure of the Contador Foundation due to the category of the race, its international character, the level of participation and the demanding routes that are usually proposed in its organisation. The Giro del Valle d’Aosta is back, on Italian soil (also French), in a territory with great autonomy within the state and with an incomparable alpine beauty. A race of extreme hardness that in 2022 recovers the five stages of duration after a year in which it was held for three days and a previous year in which it could not be held on the roads.
The Giro d’Aosta Valley Tour will start in France, at the foot of Mont Blanc, and will end at the foot of the iconic and aesthetic Matterhorn. Five stages with climbing as the main feature. Further or closer to the finish line, the Società Ciclistica Valdostana always, every day, has some orographic proposal to manage. With teams of five riders, 30 formations in contention, and a wide range of contenders, a permanent and dictatorial control is an impossibility. In the final accumulated, the positive gradient of this race is always shockingly generous.
The EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team, led by Rafa Díaz Justo, comes with a five-man team with many guarantees on the uphill road. It cannot be ignored that the race will have two summit finishes in its last two stages. Fernando Tercero and Davide Piganzoli, recently eighth and tenth in the Giro d’Italia U23, both present in the last edition of the corsa, head a squad that has three great climbers, very complete cyclists, such as David Domínguez, Ramón Fernández and Sebastiano Minoia. The objective? None specific and all at the same time. To compete, to learn, to compete. And day by day, as in 2021, when the current pro rider Álex Martín finished sixth overall.

14th July: Saint-Christophe – Saint Christophe (124.5 km).
15th July: Aosta – Aosta ( 138.8 km).
16th July: Pont-Saint-Martin – Pian Coumarial / Fontainemore (173.8 km).
17th July: Valtournenche – Breuil Cervinia (119.7 km).
