Muñoz finished eighth in Lari, where Tercero and Raccagni were involved, without consequences, in a big crash

III GP Lari – Città delle Ciliegia
28 May: Perignano – Lari (162 km)

Eighth position for Fran Muñoz in Lari, a race won by the Italian Nicolo’ Buratti (CTF) ahead of Raul Colombo (Work Service). Muñoz finished 49 seconds behind the pair at the finish line. It was a high-pace race (the average of the winner was over 42 km/h), with many alternatives in the search for the breakaway and with several teams trying to keep their development under control.

Both Muñoz and Ramón Fernández Andrea Montoli were very present in the race and finally Muñoz and Montoli were able to integrate into the very small group from which the winner emerged. Earlier Montoli had made his move, joining a group of nineteen riders who rode in a breakaway with a slight advantage.

Fernando Tercero and Gabriele Raccagni were involved in a big crash at the bunch after the 100th kilometre. Although they were not seriously injured, they rejoined the race to rejoin a second group and finally decided to abandon.

“The result as such is fine, but we always go out to compete in search of victory. I leave with a good taste in my mouth because it was my first race in Italy and I was able to be in the group that competed for the victory, a very high level group. In the end, racing in Italy is different and, like everything else, it requires adaptation and learning”, explains Muñoz.
