The slopes of up to 22% of the Alto del Garbí make for a great selection in the second stage
11º Vuelta a la Provincia de Valencia
Stage 2: Estivella – Estivella (132,6 km)
At the foot of El Garbí, the great orographic difficulty of this edition, the race arrived grouped together. The last, and umpteenth, breakaway attempt had ended shortly before. The group broke up on the ascent, Benjamín Prades and José David Martínez reached the summit, and on the descent up to thirteen riders were grouped together, without representation from the Foundation’s U23 team, and at the finish Martínez was the winner. Leading a small group, 1’37” behind, was David Martín.
The second stage of the Volta a la Provincia de Valencia, again a very intense day with multiple attempts, one of which was led by Alejandro Luna from Madrid, also saw a change of leadership. The yellow jersey goes to Iñaki Isasa, while the best placed rider in the general classification of the men in blue is precisely the Andalusian Martín. This Saturday, a very demanding stage in the Alto Turia with a lot of uphill terrain.
