El Portixol and El Campello, a chained to decide in his return one of the hardest one-day races: the Trofeu Fira d’Agost
XXXII Trofeu Fira d´Agost
Xátiva – Xátiva (140 km)
The Valencian Community recovers the competitive pulse for the U23 structure of the Contador Foundation with the return to the roads of a Trofeu Fira d’Agost of Xátiva that promises and guarantees strong emotions given the particular hardness of its route, with several mountain passes of entity in its layout and the high combativeness that the cyclists will surely show.
The race, except in the atypical 2020 where the health situation and mobility restrictions made it advisable not to go ahead with many races, has become a regular stopover among the competitive summer commitments of the team directed by Rafa Díaz Justo. In 2018 José Antonio García came close to victory here. In 2019 Alejandro Ropero, after a vibrant sprint that is the star of this year’s poster, managed to climb to the top step of the podium.
And those ambitions are repeated for this 2021, with a powerful team of nine riders present at the starting line of the race organised by the Club Ciclista Bicicletes Sanchís. The squad for this edition is made up of Joan Martí Bennassar, Álvaro García, Arnau Gilabert, Vicente Hernaiz, Alejandro Luna, Álex Martín, David Martín, Yago Segovia, Javi Serrano and Fernando Tercero.
The route, full of steep slopes and climbs, has two passes through the Serra Grossa ascent, at the beginning and at the end, and a terrible chained route in its central part: Portixol and, given its average gradient of over 10%, El Campello.
3ª Victoria del año en el XXXI Trofeu Fira D’Agost de Xativa!
Trabajo impecable por parte de todo el @FundContaTeam y conseguimos ponerle la guinda al pastel con este apretado sprint frente a Amores.
