The highlight of the Polartec-Kometa U23 in Zamora with a second victory by José Antonio García
XXXV Vuelta a Zamora
Stage 4: Sanzoles – Camarza de Tena (127.7 km)
The fight for the general classification had been too complicated in previous days, analyzed days ago the director Rafa Diaz Justo, and in the search for race situations that would allow to turn the landscape around the partial triumphs emerged as the next challenge. And the challenge, overcome. This Saturday concluded the Vuelta a Zamora with a new partial victory, the second one, by the Andalusian José Antonio García.
The Polartec-Kometa rider from Granada once again imposed his speed in the sprint that resolved the last stage of the round, beating David González, Jaume Sureda, Francisco García Rus, José Daniel Viejo, Asier Ormazabal and Francisco Galván, among others. The final overall, with a meritorious ninth place for Jorge Pastor Terol from Alicante, was for his fellow countryman Eusebio Pascual (Mutua Levante Bioracer).
“It was a great job for the whole team, this victory is yours. Facing the finish line, he started to throw away Caja Rural and so did we. The team was huge, riding a very well organized train that left me flying with 500 meters to go, or so. In the sprint the wind was very windy, it was a sprint to measure the distance well and start at the right moment. We have been the strongest and the race has rewarded us,” said José Antonio García.
Rafa Díaz Justo, director: “The script for today was clear: we had the advantage of having won the first day online and that also gave us peace of mind to face the day. The objective was to be with the Caja Rural in all the movements and escapades that could occur, so that we would not have to work. A dangerous escape had gone, but it was controlled and calm. At the end of the race a group of 40 arrives, with five of us from there. We had Jonny attacked one and a half kilometres away at the end to disorganise the arrival that Caja Rural was preparing a little. José is in that sweet moment that the sprinters are catching, he’s got two, and we’re going to see if we can keep adding up at the end of the season”.
