Five varied days in Zamora

XXXV Vuelta a Zamora

The Colombian John Stiven Ramírez, the Dutchman Wesley Mol, the Italian Daniele Cantoni, Jorge Pastor, José Antonio García and Joan Martí Bennassar are the six cyclists from the Polartec-Kometa U23 who will compete this week in the Vuelta a Zamora, the next intense one-month sports stopover for the Madrid team. A very festive round in Zamora, because it reaches the 35 editions of the competition and proposes a new night prologue in the streets of the provincial capital to win in animation and to escape from the hot warm.

Within the amateur field, the Vuelta a Zamora is one of the tests that is betting more on new information technologies to reach the public, with active profiles in social networks that have come to support the work of its organizers. Beyond this almost nocturnal prologue, the race proposes four other stages, among which, with the permission of the wind or its broken orography, the one on Friday stands out, ending in the town of Hedroso. An arrival with ramps concreted in its final part of up to 20% that reaches the vicinity of its church of Santo Tomás Apóstol.

Among all those selected by the director Rafa Díaz Justo, Jorge Pastor is the only one to face the event in Zamora after having competed this weekend in the Vuelta a Ávila, where he finished in the top ten and showed himself in his two stages. Carlos Garcia Pierna, for his part, will play for the Spanish national team at the European Championship in the Czech Republic. “Zamora is a race where many things happen, because there are days of wind, because it has a day for the sprint, because it also has a very repechera stage and another one a hard end, because it has the time trial… We’re going to see how the race evolves, little by little,” said the coach from Toledo.
