These are four of best riders from the Alberto Contador Foundation’s Under-23 team: Diego Pablo Sevilla, Miguel Ángel Ballesteros, Juan Camacho and Isaac Cantón (U-23 national champion). They are joined by two Italian riders of maximum projection, the U-23 national champion, Matteo Moschetti (closely followed by Trek-Segafredo, with which has already been stagiare this season), and the European Junior champion, Michele Gazzoli. The group is completed by the Austrian Patrick Gamper and the Luxembourgish Michel Ries.
“I am very satisfied with this group of riders. We have selected them with great attention and we believe they have a great future ahead”, explains Ivan Basso. “To complete the team we still have between two and four places available, two of which will occupy extra-european cyclists”.
In the design of the team, Basso highlights the sport directors. “Jesús Hernández, who finishes his sports career as Alberto Contador, will be the first sport director, supported by also former professional Félix García Casas, that is the technical responsable of all Alberto Contador Foundation teams”.
Collaboration with the Mapei Sport Center is also confirmed as responsible for the preparation of the riders. In coming weeks will confirm the rest of the squad and staff members, as well as the place and date of the first training camp of Polartec-Kometa, which will be attached to the Spanish Cycling Federation, although with a markedly international character.
