Fernando Barceló stands with the leadership of the Cup of Spain

Waiting for the last hree three races, Fernando Barceló got the lead today in Torredonjimeno of the U23 Cup of Spain, seconded by Michelangelo Ballesteros, now second overall. Meanwhile, the RH+/Polartec held the lead by teams, waiting for the next race, the Memorial Pascual Montparler, which will be the seventh of the nine races scheduled.

In Torredonjimeno (Jaén) on a very demanding course, the race was marked by a breakaway in the first 25 kilometers in which Alvaro Cuadros was in, other of the major players in the RH+/Polartec, which even got to go ahead in the Locubín climb, but after the descent would be hunted by a large counterattack by Lizarte, who came to get up to five riders ahead, facing the two of RH+/Polartec, Cuadros and Miguel Angel Ballesteros, who also came from behind.

In the final stretch of the race, however, Lizarte managed to go ahead for the win, while in the fight for the Cup of Spain the most favored was Fernando Barceló, fifth on goal and new interim leader, ahead of teammate Miguel Angel Ballesteros, 14 points behind, and one more than the previous leader, Gonzalo Serrano, now third.

Given the tight classification, in the remaining three races all will depend on the regularity of the first ones in the general, because as is being checked, the slightest weakness produces a shift in the standings, still very tight.
