Close to the top-10 in the opening stage of Castilla y León
Vuelta a Castilla y León (2.1)
Stage 1: Benavente – Morales de Vino (156km)
Fast and demanding first day of the Spanish race, which could not see EOLO Kometa contest the sprint finish. Both David Martín and Alessandro Fedeli were on the verge of the top-10, after the race split up in the area of the two categorized climbs.
A day off, although Alejandro Ropero suffered a crash that did not prevent him from finishing the stage, which was a chance for the fast riders before tomorrow’s queen stage day.
David Martín: “It was a relatively comfortable day because the wind didn’t blow as much strong as expected. We were aware of echelons during the day, so we positioned ourselves very well on the descent before the climbs and that’s how we were able to finish the stage in front. The last kilometre was a bit long, trying to control the attacks, but I’m happy with the feeling”.
