An extraterrestrial called Tadej, a brilliant Albanese
When Pogacar got to the front, opened the throttle and decided to get his hands on the stage, there was nothing left for the others to do. And indeed, Pogacar took the stage and the overall leader’s jersey by sprinting up the last climb. Behind him, however, things happened.
The first: Lorenzo Fortunato has a wonderful leg, but unfortunately the aftermath of the Adriatica Ionica Race crash is still being felt. Among the best on the climbs, Fortu was the victim of another fall on the last descent: “I have three cracked ribs, I can’t feel my wrist, on the bike I’m stiff and clearly on the descent I risk falling like it happened today. It’s too bad, because my leg is very good and I can go uphill very strong. I hope to be able to grit my teeth and get a result in tomorrow’s big stage, then take off a bit because I need to recover.”
The second: Vincenzo Albanese doesn’t let up. Very good at keeping the small group of the best behind Pogacar to then finish fifth at 36″ from the Slovenian phenomenon.
Tomorrow, lots of climbing: expect a wild Pogacar, hoping to see our climbers in front as well.
