Fortunato: “I tried, I will try again.”
Another day on the attack, another day to try, another day in the breakaway with our leader along with riders who are hotshots and it is an honor to be with them and try to beat them. Another day with no regrets. The Mortirolo stage, the stage with the steepest mountains, the stage among the most feared: to the archives with Lorenzo Fortunato’s attempt, in front with the best only to break away coming down the Mortirolo and suffering on the long plain before the next climb.
“I tried,” Lorenzo said, “and I will try again: tomorrow, and in the other mountain stages. I’m fine, I’m much better than the first days. I want to leave my mark on this Giro, or at least I want to try: I have nothing to reproach myself, and you will certainly see me again on the attack.”
Stefano Zanatta: “Even today we honored our jersey and the Gro d’Italia: we are here to try to win a stage, we have done it so far and we will do it until Sunday.
