Maestri the best, Fortunato steps forward
Tirreno Adriático (2.UWT)
Stage 1: ITT – Lido de Camaiore (13’9km)
The competition got underway. In the beautiful seaside village of Lido di Camaiore, the EOLO Kometa riders completed a worthy performance that keeps their chances to shine this week. The Tirreno Adriatico has only just begun.
There were no surprises in the out-and-back effort, with an almost completely flat, straight terrain, on which the time trial was contested. The best blue rider at the finish line was Mirco Maestri, 1:22 behind the winner Filippo Ganna (INEOS). Lorenzo Fortunato, without competing to the maximum, did show his ambition in trying to improve and progress in this discipline. A day to save and to put the body in tune before the stages marked in red, those in which the team will seek to shine and be protagonist.
Lorenzo Fortunato: “I’m happy because we have improved in the time trial compared to last year. The winter work is showing, we are still making a great road towards the Giro d’Italia and I think that little by little we are seeing the fruits. At least I’m not last like I was in 2021! (laughs)”.
