From the dust of the Strade Bianche, rises Albanese
Many things will be remembered in this edition of the Strade Bianche.
Will be remembered the solo of Tadej Pogacar, phenomenal in his 50 km of solitary ride to arrive with raised arms in Piazza del Campo. People will be remembered, finally back for real on the roads of cycling from which it was missing for too long. It will be remembered the beauty of the landscape, the beauty of Siena that really is “la più bella delle città” as its citizens sing.
It will be remembered the race of the EOLO-KOMETA, able to enter the escape of the day with Simone Bevilacqua and Sergio Garcia and reach up to 5 minutes of advantage. It will be remembered, or at least we will remember it, the race of Vincenzo Albanese: a splendid 25th place at 2’23” from Pogacar. “I’m really happy – Alba said immediately after the finish, covered in dust – because that’s what I wanted to do: try to stay in front, try to have a good race. It was hard, very hard and I also ended up on the ground: but this race is really nice. The feelings are good, now I have a couple of days to heal from some little pain and be ready to do a good Tirreno”.
