Diego Pablo Sevilla takes the lead in the intermediate sprint

Vuelta a Andalucía-Ruta del Sol (2.PRO)
Stage 2: Archidona-Alcalá la Real 150’6km

Breakaway and pundonor for Diego Pablo Sevilla in the second day of Andalucía. The rider jumped out of the peloton to join a breakaway that rode with a maximum gap of 4 minutes. Aware of the great opportunity to compete for the classification of the flying goals, he gave it his all and managed to get ahead in the two hot spots of the day.

With no margin to think about the stage victory, the gap fluctuated with the main peloton and the breakaway was finally annulled on the penultimate climb. EOLO Kometa continued to concentrate and look for a good position with both Albanese and Fortunato, who gave his all on the climb to the castle of Alcalá la Real and was able to stay on the edge of the top-20.

Diego Pablo Sevilla: “From the start I had the task of being in the breakaway and knowing that from kilometre 3 the road started to climb, I was very attentive. I went out to several cuts, we were neutralised and the good breakaway just went. I attacked again, I stayed a bit in no man’s land trying to get in front and the truth is that I don’t know if it was 20 or 30 kilometres chasing, because it took me forever. In the end they waited for us and I managed to get in, so I’ve already set myself the objective of competing in the flying goals. I was able to win both, it’s important for me and for the team to wear this jersey. We will try to fight for it until the end of the Vuelta a Andalucía”.
