Albanese and Fortunato in front. But Meurisse comes out on top

Once again there, there with the best of them. With Fortunato and Albanese proving to be two superior riders, fighting until the end to try to win. And once again protagonists, the guys of EOLO-KOMETA, always good to show off first with Bais able to animate the breakaway of the day (up to 3′ 40” advantage) and then with the captain Francesco Gavazzi who tried the personal action at 30 km from the finish line.

Yes: the victory did not come. Because at 6 km from the finish line a trio formed by Restrepo, Trentin and Meurisse gained about ten seconds on the group where almost exclusively our Fortunato and Albanese were working, advantage maintained until the last meters with Meurisse that has mocked Trentin while behind Alba has centered a good sixth place.

The season is almost over: there is only one more chance to get one last victory. Next Sunday there will be the Veneto Classic, from Venice to Bassano del Grappa. EOLO-KOMETA, you can bet, will try again.

Vincenzo Albanese: “Today has been a challenging race, and I was not so well, so much so that in the last climb I let myself be passed by the first ones and then I returned to the plain with another group and Fortunato in front. This sixth place confirms my really good condition. I’m a bit tired because of the many races I’ve done, unfortunately in the sprint I always find three or four riders who beat me and I never manage to win. I really want to finish well because next year we have to do fire and brimstone: finish well to start even stronger”.
