Trofeo Matteotti, Rivi is brave and combative: he finishes eighth
74º Trofeo Matteotti
Pescara – Pescara (195 km)
And it is Matteo Trentin to put the seal on the Trofeo Matteotti, last race before the World Championship of the next week: a victory of strength, arrived from a decisive action born in the fifth lap with 12 riders that have been able to take advantage. Among them Trentin and our Samuele Rivi, very good to take the right escape and to stay clinging with his teeth to the group of the best, until he had a shred of strength.
Rivi resisted until lap ten, when seven riders made the decisive attack with Trentin, who then left everyone behind a handful of kilometers from the end to arrive at the finish line alone. Our rider resisted, however, reaching an excellent eighth place: very good indeed.
Samuele Rivi: “Tough, it was really tough. At the beginning of the race there was a first split of the group, in front there were Fortunato, Albanese and Ravasi then I came back with Wackermann and Frapporti and we formed a group of about fifty riders. Then the group came back to us and started a counterattack in which I managed to slip in, four laps from the end the strongest riders accelerated and I was a bit on my legs on the climb. I gave everything I could give, I managed to keep a little margin on the group and finish with a good result”.
