The Tour du Limousin still speaks French. Zanatta: “Today, the hardest stage”
54º Tour du Limousin
Stage 2: Agonac – Payzac (172 km)
Another French victory: the second stage of the Tour du Limousin went to the Tranaslpian Dorian Godon, who sprinted to control the small group that had managed to take advantage in the last kilometers: behind him Barguil (Arkéa-Samsic), and Bonnamour. Godon has also conquered the jersey of leader of the general classification.
And ours? Once again, the team has worked for Albanese: but let’s let the DS Stefano Zanatta tell us about the day of EOLO-KOMETA: “Today has been the most challenging stage, with the last 30 km really hard: here the FDJ’s men have made a selection and in the front there are about twenty riders with Alba that at the beginning has detached himself of some tens of seconds. Then he was able to come back, but the small group had split up and the six who arrived had gone into a breakaway. Albanese was therefore able to fight for seventh place, and let’s say that today went well, also taking into account the fact that in front there were mostly World Tour team riders. And tomorrow, we will still be there to fight”.
Vincenzo Albanese: “I felt good today too, but it was really hard: the hardest stage of this race, I gave everything and in the end I arrived tenth. Tomorrow and the day after tomorrow there are still two opportunities, and I’ll always ride as if it were the last stage because I want to try to win. I’m giving it my all, and I know it will come. You’ll see.”
Tomorrow it’s back on the saddle for the third and penultimate stage: on the plate there are 184,2 km to cover. It starts in Bugeat Espace 1000 Sources and ends in Lubersac.
