Impressive Samuele Rivi: sixth place in the time trial of the Italian Championships
Italian Cycling Championships
Faenza – Faenza (45,7 km ITT)
Mattia Frapporti, Samuele Rivi and Davide Bais were the three EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team riders who competed this Friday in the time trial of the Italian National Cycling Championships, held on a 45.7 kilometres course with start and finish in Faenza and a participation of 25 riders. The national title went to Matteo Sobrero (58’40”), while Samuele Rivi finished in a sensational sixth place, 3’26” behind the winner.
It was not an easy route given the existence of three climbs on the course, Rocca di Monte Poggiolo, Cima Sabbioni and Via Agello. Three climbs to test the power and cadence in which Samuele Rivi gave a great and exciting performance with a view to the future. The rider from Trentino set the best provisional intermediate times at all the checkpoints (24’05” at the first and 36’10” at the second) and at the finish line: 1h 02’06”.
Davide Bais (1h 04’30”), the last of the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team riders to take part in the race, finished in an interesting tenth position, 5’50” behind Sobrero. Mattia Frapporti, the first of the EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team riders to take part in the race, stopped the clock in 1h 05’08”.
Samuele Rivi: “Definitely, I didn’t expect it. And obviously I’m very happy, because I was the first to be curious to test myself in a time trial like this after the hard work of the Giro d’Italia. I managed to be steady, to manage well the climbs and to choose the right trajectories in the descent, to push hard in the final stretch. We had tried the route this morning, and Stefano Zanatta guided me perfectly from the car: this way, it’s really easier. A great result, for me but also for the team: EOLO-KOMETA is growing more and more and people is learning to know us thanks to what we do on the roads: and this is a reason of great pride for us. I obviously thank all the teammates and all the staff, and I congratulate Bais and Frapporti who did very well. The season continues!”.
⏱️ 1h 02’06” for Samuele Rivi at the finish line. He provisionally set the fastest time of this Italian ITT Championship. Grande, Samu!!#EOLOKOMETACyclingTeam pic.twitter.com/iOxVxyoxHH
