Strade Bianche and Tirreno-Adriatico, first sporting events in the WorldTour category
The leap to the ProTeam category supports it. The professional structure of the Contador Foundation will face in 2021 its first sporting commitments in the highest category of cycling sport: the WorldTour. Both will take place in March.
The first will be the Strade Bianche. The iconic Italian race, created in 2007, will be held on Saturday 6 March and its winding 184-kilometre route includes 63 unpaved sectors in which the riders will have to manage several major climbs on an intense route that concludes in the spectacular Piazza del Campo in Siena.
A few days later, on Wednesday 10 March, a new edition of the Tirreno-Adriatico will start in Lido di Camaiore. The first edition of this race dates back to 1966 and its list of winners includes many of the great names in the sport.
The race of the two seas, which features several stages with a broken profile, will have its queen stage on Saturday 13 with a finish in Prati di Tivo and will conclude with an individual time trial of 11.1 kilometres in San Benedetto del Tronto.
The EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team will take part in both races after having received an invitation from the organization in the same day that the wildcard to take part, in May, in the next Giro d’Italia.
