EOLO will be the main sponsor of the new project of the Alberto Contador Foundation: EOLO-KOMETA
The three-year agreement will enter into force in 2021 and the new EOLO-KOMETA team will be registered in the UCI ProTeam category.
EOLO, Italian company leader in fixed-wireless ultra-broadband for business and residential segments, today announces that it has signed an agreement, making the company the title sponsor of the new Alberto Contador Foundation’s sports project. Alongside EOLO, Kometa also confirms its support as official co-sponsor.
The agreement, which will start in 2021 and will last three years, confirms the deep connection between EOLO and the sports world, cycling in particular, with which it shares both values and goals. During the last few months, in fact, the company has already supported cycling races, such as the Milano-Sanremo, the Strade Bianche and the Tirreno-Adriatico.
The sports management is already working on the configuration of an Italian team that – from 2021 – will be renamed EOLO-KOMETA Cycling Team, its Italian headquarters will be located in Busto Arsizio, at EOLO’s campus. The team will lead the Alberto Contador Foundation’s next season in the UCI ProTeam (former Professional Continental) category.
Luca Spada, President and founder of EOLO, said: “We are delighted to support Ivan Basso and the Alberto Contador Foundation’s project: at EOLO, we strongly believe in talent and achieving results through commitment, hard work, sacrifice and teamwork. But on top of that, we share many other deeply-rooted values with cycling. This sport can unite the Italy through a unique network throughout the country, bringing the most successful champions to large cities and small towns, places that – as EOLO – are very dear to us. Like the cycling champions, at EOLO we want to bring unforgettable events even to the smallest municipalities, that is why we are committed on a daily basis to our mission: to bring internet services where the others do not arrive”.
Giacomo Pedranzini, CEO of KOMETA: “Today we are very happy! For three years we have been partners of Foundation Contador! The road was not easy, but we have achieved important results: we have coached and trained young men and athletes. Thanks to several victories six of them have gone from our Continental Team to important world tour teams. That is why we are a great team! Today we are very happy, because our partnership has levelled up and received new energy and new strength. Foundation Contador and Kometa are joined by a significant partner EOLO, thus the pro-continental team EOLO-KOMETA is born, and as of 2021 it will compete also in many of the races of the world tour calendar. Competing at this level will give us the opportunity to have a stronger voice and visibility, to communicate our core values to a wider audience. Kometa’s core values – perseverance, integrity, and care for the next generations- are in line with the values of professional cycling and the values of Foundation Contador. We want to improve people’s lives, with good and healthy food for an affordable price, motivating them through cycling to keep an active lifestyle. Last but not least, after the difficult times we all faced during the pandemic, stepping up is a message of hope and trust in the future”.
Fran Contador, general manager of the Kometa-Xstra Cycling Team: “Today is a very special day because it is the realization of a dream that we have been working hard for for years. It’s a dream that comes true after a few months that are also really difficult for this sport because of the situation that the coronavirus has caused. I would like to thank Giacomo Pedranzini, president of Kometa, for his unwavering commitment. A great opportunity has come out of the difficult moments. We have always been very clear that the jump in category was a goal, but not at any price. Now we have a great challenge ahead of us with a great responsibility, but with the confidence in the fruits that our work is beginning to bear from the base”.
Ivan Basso, sports manager of Kometa-Xstra Cycling Team: “We are very happy for the confidence that a company of the importance of EOLO has in this project. We share values such as humility, effort, sacrifice and self-sacrifice, values that its CEO Luca Spada knows perfectly in first person. We are both united by our origin in the same region. Cycling, in my opinion, is an excellent channel for the transmission of the fact that EOLO works every day to reach where others cannot in their Internet services offer. Luca Spada is a great entrepreneur. With his great vision and his genius, the company has become in a very short time one of the references in the world of telecommunications and the Italian economy. I would also like to highlight Kometa’s unconditional support, with Giacomo Pedranzini and Lorenzo Negri at the helm, because he has supported the team in these three seasons by carrying a large part of the weight of the structure. And we are very proud and grateful that, when it comes to taking this important step, they are also facing it at our side”.
