A stages race with a short prologue and two winding stages to finish off the Croatian tour
60th Istrian Spring Trophy
From 12 to 15 March
In the mood for competition. This is how the imminent Istrian Spring Trophy will be faced within the Kometa-Xstra Cycling Team after the recent participations in the Umag and Poreč trophies, in which the presence of the Alberto Contador Foundation’s continental team in the race has gone further.
“The results have not been outstanding, striking, and in that sense both races are two less opportunities to achieve victories, but I am convinced that we are working well, doing things well and soon the first victory of the season will come”, said Alejandro Ropero after the Poreč Trophy.
After the two one-day races and on circuits without big orographic difficulties, always hostile environments as they are always full of aspirants and interests, four consecutive days of competition are coming where the discipline of the time trial will appear and there will also be room for a couple of days with bigger climbs than the ones we have faced up to now. It is not a question of high mountains, but of ‘buzzard’, winding terrain, especially on the second day, with arrival in the beautiful village of Labin, known as ‘the pearl of Istria’.
“During the Porec Trophy we really did a good job all day long. We controlled a lot of race situations and didn’t allow any leaks to go away. Personally I am happy with the attitude and spirit we showed in the race,” agrees Erik Fetter.
