Juan Camacho, eleventh in Yecla: “I have given everything; I would have liked to finish in the top ten”
Spanish Championships 2019
ITT: Yecla-Yecla (39.4 km)
The Spanish from La Mancha Juan Camacho was the only rider of the Kometa Cycling Team that took part this Friday in the elite time trial of the Spanish Cycling Championships that in 2019 are held in the Region of Murcia. A track of 39.4 kilometres with start and finish in the town of Yecla ideal for specialists and big riders.
Camacho, who was the 18th of the 26 participants to go out to compete, concluded his participation with a time of 50:39. A record that finally allowed him to occupy the eleventh place in a classification that in its first position had the Biscayan Jonathan Castroviejo. The rider of Ineos, in an unpublished fact, conquered his fifth national entorchado of this modality. Two Basques from Astana, Pello Bilbao and Gorka Izagirre, completed the podium.
Juan Camacho, on his participation in the race: “It was a route that came well and the truth is that I can not reproach myself for anything: I gave everything, I reached the finish line bursting, dead, I can not say that I saved anything. The only thing I have left is a bittersweet flavour because I was hoping to make it into the top ten and for one place I was left out of the top-ten”.
“I’ve prepared the Nationals well, but in the end I haven’t competed for a long time and, whether you like it or not, that spark, that heat, before a time trial you can always tell. There were people here who came from Dauphiné, Switzerland, Belgium, Portugal… Anyway, I gave everything, I didn’t leave anything behind. I’m happy, I’m satisfied, with this tip of not having been able to be in the top ten”, concludes the brilliant rider from Moral de Calatrava.
