A succession of crashes in the last corner, a left turn, conditioned the resolution of the final stage of the Tour of Hungary, a final stage in which the German Nikodemus Haller (BikeAid) and the Italian Matteo Moschetti signed a new second position for the Polartec-Kometa. In the final general classification, the Italian Manuel Belletti (Androni) won the race, who also beat the sprinter from the Madrid formation in the general classification of the points.

The 128 km start and finish in Kazincbarcika was aimed at sprint resolution and the forecast was consolidated in the development of a new frenetic day. None of the numerous attempts to escape were forged, always with minimum incomes that were maintained with perseverance and insistence without much more effort. Five riders would manage to establish, never more than 20 seconds ahead, an escape that failed to survive for a fortnight of kilometers, already in the twenty finals.

The Polartec-Kometa worked hard to avoid surprises and to keep Moschetti protected. Two kilometres from the end, he took command of the platoon. The well-placed Milanese lost some room for manoeuvre on that last lap. He came out in the top five, but as a result of the crashes Haller had stood out slightly and it was impossible for him to fill the gap. The leader, Manuel Belletti, took precautions and did not get involved. “I preferred not to take any chances on the finish line, I had a feeling that anything could happen,” said Belletti. His sense of smell didn’t fool him.

“It was a shame, my colleagues have done a great job. I always play to win. I’m not satisfied with the result, but it’s much better than falling,” said the Lombard sprinter, who won one stage in the Hungarian race and second in two others. Polartec-Kometa has been one of the teams with the most presence in the race, also under the guidance of Isaac Cantón, two days on the run and fighting a mountain general in which he was finally third.
