Matteo Mochetti wins the fourth stage of the Tour de Normandie

The italian rider Matteo Moschetti signed the Polartec-Kometa’s fifth success of the season thanks to his victory at the fourth stage of the Tour de Normandie (France), 152 kilometers between Evrecy and Argentan. Moschetti climbs to the sixth place in a overall classification in which the Swiss Fabian Lienhard remains leader.

In a nervous day, with many movements from the start and a very high pace throughout the day, the young transalpine sprinter just imposed his high speed after managing the last few kilometers very well wrapped by his teammates and tackle the last straight very well placed.

“It has been a very, very fast day again. And complicated by the wind. The wind and the crash have been the big problems of the day. It has not stopped at any moment and at the same time any breakaway could´nt be consolidated.. It has been a day of continuous battle”, explains Jesús Hernández, team director at the race.

The 45 km/h average of the first hour of the race was the general note of the whole stage. “The peloton, by the wind, has broken up into five groups,” adds Hernández. In one of those cuts, at the fundamental end, the Polartec-Kometa has managed to include four riders. Only Awet Habtom, who suffered a fall in the first kilometers, and Michele Gazzoli, who had a bad day, could not stay in that lead group.

“It has been a very hard day, with a lot of wind,” explains Moschetti. “In the middle of the stage the main group has been cut and at the head we have managed to get four team riders. My colleagues have done an incredible job. In the end Camacho has been very brave. I was able to reach the final turn in an optimal position and then I was able to make a good sprint”.
