Great performance for Polartec-Kometa at Tour de Normandie

The Polartec-Kometa concluded its participation in the Tour of Normandy in the best possible way: with a victory. The Italian Matteo Moschetti returned to impose his point of speed in the sprint and scored a new victory in the seventh day of the race, from La Haye to Caen over 151.4 kilometers. It is the sixth victory of the season for the team, all of them with the Milanese signature. The British Thomas Stewart (JLT Condor) won the final overall.

One last nervous day again, in which a break of six cyclists has forced the team to work hard. “It has been an impeccable work”, emphasizes the director Jesús Hernández. “Even though today we were going out with a man less because of the retirement of Patrick Gamper, and that several riders were touched by the crashes of these days, the team has given the maximum and worked very well to catch this flight”.

Facing the sprint, Moschetti deployed his tactical sense and career vision on the road. “The riders were warned that they had to get out of the last turn very well, as much in third position, because afterwards there was no room to climb. Matteo is very smart, he has made a small volata to enter second in the curve and to have an option in the sprint”, explains Hernandez.

The Polartec-Kometa maintains its good run, with wins in the last three races in which it has taken part, and Moschetti is consolidated as the ‘pichichi’ of the continental formation. The passage of the team by Norman roads has been very positive, beyond the falls suffered, with a lot of presence in the race and prominence in several of the escapades lived these days.

“It´s a very positive image in a race with a lot of level”, defends Hernández. “After the victory of Matteo in Argentan the following two days we have had the luck against the crashes. Removing Camacho, everyone else has fallen on occasion. Gazzoli, even, three times. For this reason we lost Gamper”.

The next Polartec-Kometa competition arrives in a week: the Miguel Indurain Grand Prix, next Saturday, March 31.
