Benageber closes the Copa de España with Óscar Orts close to the final podium

Benageber, in the Alto Turia, will be the last round of the Copa de España for the junior team. The Valencian town will host the sixth round of the tournament to which Óscar Orts will arrive as fourth classified with 115 points and options to fight for the podium in his first year in the category.

The team will maintain a very similar line-up to the one presented in the recent race in Peñafiel where Orts was 14th and Iván Loaisa was protagonist in the breakaway of the day being caught by the bunch in the last kilometer. In addition to the two mentioned above, Iker Díaz, Eleazar Jiménez, Hugo Pradas, Robinson Rincón, Nacho Sánchez and Hector Teruel will travel to Valencia.

The route of the race will be very demanding with a total of five climbs divided between second and third category. The Alto La Mataparda on both sides, the Alto Montalbana, the Alto del Remedio and the Alto de Benageber just three kilometres from the finish will dynamite the bunch. In addition to the toughness of the route, there will be high temperatures and the 100 kilometers of a profile that will decide the overall classification of the Copa.

“It is the last race of the Copa de España and the hardest. The terrain and the weather will be the protagonists. Besides, we have Oscar 4th in the classification and we are going to fight for that podium”, analyses Isaac Cantón, director of the junior team before the final race of the prestigious tournament.

“We are going for this last round of the Copa de España with a lot of desire and ambition to get on the podium as I am now 4th overall. The feeling lately has been good and the team is performing at 100% so I think we can achieve a good result”, explains Óscar Orts.
