Tommaso Bessega ninth on the first time trial of the Vuelta a Zamora
The Vuelta a Zamora started with an explosive four-kilometre individual time trial. After delaying the start by 10 minutes due to a fall of two riders during the reconnaissance of the course, all the riders of the team completed the race without major difficulties. Gabriele Bessega set a great time and was among the best riders for most of the day. Tommaso Bessega came out at the end of the race and was able to set a time of 5’37’, which was good enough for ninth place.
‘Tommaso finished ninth and everyone gave their best. They beat us and there is nothing to reproach. Everyone has a good feeling and this only just begun. We are going to go for it day by day’, summarized Miguel Gómez, team manager.
‘It was a day to make a maximum effort of five minutes, which suits me and I had good legs. I was ninth, I think that’s pretty good and for the rest of the days I think I could be fighting for a sprint stage win,’ explained Italian Tommaso Bessega.
