The Circuito Montañés gives continuity to the calendar of stage races

Circuito Montañes
From 11th to 14th of June

With the Volta Castelló just finished and with part of the team competing in the Giro Next Gen, the Circuito Montañes gives the relief and continuity to the stage races for the U23 team. 4 stages will compose the race with the particularity that three of them will be in Cantabrian terrain and one of them in Burgos.

6 cyclists will take part in the race. Riccardo Archetti, Bálint Feldhoffer, Álex García and Daniel Tenorio will repeat in the line-up after competing in Castellón. The two novelties in the squad will be Pablo García and Tommaso Bessega, who will be looking for a new victory after the one obtained in the emotional Arturo Grávalos Memorial.

The race will be of the highest level and will count with the participation of a Spanish professional continental team. On the first day, the riders will have to tackle 158 kilometres of broken terrain around Renedo. The Alto de El Churi (3rd) on two occasions will be the only mountainous difficulties. The climb, well known in Cantabrian races, could select the group and avoid a mass finish. The second day will have practically the same length as the first (156 kilometres) although the profile with the ascents to the Alto de Ubiarco (3rd) and the Alto de Cildad (3rd) accumulating 7 categorized climbs, plus three climbs that will not be count towards the king of the mountain classification, will make the race more selective.

The third stage will take the riders to Castilla y León, specifically to the town of Villasana de Mena in Burgos. The three ascents to the Alto del Carel (3rd) will select the peloton for a possible sprint. The fourth and final day will be a great opportunity for the climbers. Starting in Pontejos and finishing in Muriedas, the cyclists will face 6 climbs, five of them of third category and Alisas, of second category with the presence of the Alto de El Churi as in the first day in the last kilometres.

Miguel Gómez will travel with the team to Cantabria with the same team as in Castellón except for two changes that can help to achieve the objectives: ‘On paper, there are several stages very suitable for a volata with Tommasso. In addition, the positioning will help and not losing options on those days in the general classification will determine which group of riders is in a position to win it. The first day, for example, should be one of them, with El Churi as the judge. Garchu, day by day, will be in the general classification and he will finish the last stage with a longer pass more in line with his own characteristics. Álex and Bálint, come with good dynamics from Castellón, being combative and protagonists.
Tenorio and Archetti, I see them wanting to get rid of the bad taste because of various problems. We want to be in the race and show a great work together”.
