Good Sunday, Polti Kometa! Podium Mattia Bais and top-10 De Cassan at the Giro della Romagna

On the day Lonardi finishes 4th in Turkey Team Polti Kometa completes Sunday at the Giro della Romagna with Mattia Bais 3rd and Davide De Cassan 9th!

In the Castrocaro circuit which characterized the final part of the route, the Trentino rider was one of the counterattackers on the second of the five climbs of Bagnolo to catch the initial breakaway. When later the UAE moved to reinforce this new 5-men leading group Matteo Fabbro went to halt the attempt.

A team effort that allowed Bais to contend for victory in the reduced sprint: in the end, the Emirati team won, with Morgado, but for the Polti Kometa rider (already brilliant at the start of the week at the Tour of the Alps) it’s his first podium as a Pro rider. And in the main chasers’ sprint behind them De Cassan secures his third top-10 of the season after the two in Taiwan.

“I’m especially satisfied with the feelings,” says Mattia, “which have been steadily growing from the training sessions on Teide and the subsequent KOM jersey in the TotA beginning. A thought also goes to my brother Davide, who’s recovering well from the crash. Now, onto the next races!”

This is the analysis of sports director Stefano Zanatta: “We came to Romagna to do well, confident in our momentum and the excellent form of Bais. Fabbro did very well too and the young riders were strong, with De Cassan’s placement and the overall willingness to sacrifice and fight where we know we can achieve results. We approach the pre-Giro d’Italia week with good morale.”
