6th place for Javi Serrano and breakaway for Diego Sevilla in Etyek (Tour of Hungary)
The Tour of Hungary continues to be the scene of great results for Team Polti Kometa, which today added another top-10 with Javi Serrano, sixth in a new triumph of Nys, while Diego Pablo Sevilla rode in the breakaway during the whole day.
A seven-rider breakaway was the protagonist of the fourth stage, which started at full speed (almost 52km/h in the first hour) trying to form the breakaway. All the members of the team tried, and finally Diego Pablo Sevilla managed to form part of a solid group at the head of the race.
The gap never exceeded two minutes, with the race controlled in the knowledge that there were plenty of options for both the breakaway and the main peloton. The three climbs through Etyek livened up the race, always waiting for the movements of the favourites.
Despite the effort and understanding in the breakaway, the advantage was reduced, although Diego Sevilla was able to stay in the lead until the start of the final climb. At this point, the team was already working on a very explosive finish with Manuel Peñalver and David Martín perfectly positioning Javi Serrano. The rider from Madrid launched his sprint with fury, without being able to overtake the big favourites but achieving an important sixth position that confirms his good form.
Javier Serrano: “This result tastes very good in a tough finish, which I think suits my characteristics, fighting with the best. I’m adapting to these finishes, although it was a bit long for me. I’m satisfied with the sensations and we’re progressing in the right direction”.
Giovanni Ellena, sports director: “The riders were very good today. First fighting for the breakaway where they finally managed to be with Diego Sevilla. He was neutralised practically in the last kilometre and after that great work it was his turn to fight for the finish. Peñalver and David Martín helped Serrano to get the better position, finally sixth, in a very positive day”.
This Sunday concludes the Tour of Hungary with the 5th stage between Siófok and Pécs, over 173.2 kilometres with three laps of the final circuit that will decide the race.
