Joan Bou se lleva la General de la Vuelta a la Rioja
Flex-Fundación Alberto Contador concluyó la temporada con el triunfo en la Vuelta a la Rioja Joan Bou: “No me esperaba este resultado”
Joan Bou terminó la temporada como la inició, con una victoria, aunque ésta algo menos esperada, pues venía de no conseguir demasiado en las últimas carreras y, además, llegó como recambio de última hora de otro compañero. “No me esperaba este resultado”, confiesa, aunque hace un balance muy positivo del año que ahora concluye. “No me ha quedado nada por hacer, no me quejo de nada”, dice.
Esta última victoria se construyó en la primera etapa, con una fuga en la que se metió Joan Bou y que llegó hasta meta. “El primer día salimos con la idea de buscar una escapada y la cogí yo. Éramos un grupo de unos 16 y llegamos tres a la subida final”.
Bou ganó en solitario, con 4 segundos sobre Gaizka Sotil y 8 sobre el primer grupo, una ventaja que resultó suficiente hasta el final, logrando la primera plaza en la general, al tiempo que José Félix Parra ganaba la general de la montaña.
Juan Bou logró así terminar el año ganando. “Siempre es difícil conseguir una victoria, pero esta última me ha sorprendido un poco, porque no me esperaba tener esta forma después de no haber llegado todo lo fino que quería las últimas carreras, pero al final he terminado el año como lo empecé, cuando gané en Murcia la Vuelta a la Costa Cálida”.
Bou ha sido, de hecho, uno de los mejores corredores del Flex-Fundación Alberto Contador, con un total de siete victorias que demuestran sus cualidades como corredor completo, buen contrarrelojista y entre los mejores subiendo. “Salir al extranjero, donde se va mucho más deprisa, me ha ayudado a moverme mejor en carrera. Ahí se aprenden bastantes cosas”, asegura, aunque todavía le queda mucho camino, en especial el año próximo, todavía más difícil con el paso a sub-23, donde aspira a “adaptarme bien a la categoría”, concluye.

The latter victory was built in the first stage, with a break where Joan Bou went and came to the finish. «The first day we went out with the idea of looking for a breakaway and I took it. We were a group of about 16 and got three to the final climb». Bou won solo with 4 seconds on Gaizka Sotil and 8 on the first group, an advantage that was enough to the end, achieving first place overall, while Jose Felix Parra won the overall Mountain.
Juan Bou managed to finish the year winning. «It’s always difficult to get a victory, but the latter surprised me a little because I did not expect to have this form after not having gone as well as I wanted to last races, but in the end I finished the year as I started when I won in Murcia the Vuelta a la Costa Calida».
Bou was in fact one of the best riders in the Flex-Alberto Contador Foundation team, with a total of seven victories to show his qualities as a complete rider, good time- trialist and among the best climbing. «Going abroad, where it goes much faster, helped me to move better in the race. I learned many things there», he says, but still has a long way, especially next year, even more difficult with the passage to U23 categorie, which aims to «adapt to the category well», he concludes.
