The Colour Project continues: two-year “reinforced” renewal between LECHLER and Team Polti Kometa
For another two years Team Polti Kometa will be enriched by the chromatic suggestions and even greater support from LECHLER, a leader in the production and sale of paints and enamels, which has so far captivatingly colored the squad’s bicycles during the Giro d’Italia and Il Lombardia. The agreement was officially announced today in a city and on an occasion of deep significance: in Como, home of the historic company, after the monument classic that saw Davide Piganzoli racing on a special AURUM Magma Lake of Como dedicated to the tones of the Lario. In addition to appearing on the riders’ jerseys, the LECHLER brand will also be featured on the team’s AURUM bikes, a groundbreaking innovation in the world of professional cycling.
The fundamental idea behind this Colour Project is the harmonious coexistence of technological aspects, enhanced by ultra-light coatings, and humanistic ones, sublimated by the emotions that colors and effects can evoke, both in those who pedal firsthand and in those who admire from the outside. In cycling, observing from the outside is almost like observing from within, immersing oneself in a sport that travels directly among people.
This is just one of the reasons for igniting and strengthening the synergy, as explained by Luciano Valli, general manager of LECHLER: “The sponsorship of Polti Kometa for 2024 was born from a unity of intent with Polti and the team’s staff, particularly Ivan Basso, centered around the ideals that characterize our way of doing business, such as passion, innovation, ethics and sustainability. Now, after a year of work and experimentation in close contact, we can say with certainty that we are on the right track: we’ve brought the Colour Project into a professional sports structure, inspiring clients and stakeholders with unique experiences, all within the bike world that is inextricably linked to sustainability. We believe in the growth of this partnership and consequently have decided to increase the investment starting next season.”
Echoing him is his counterpart Fran Contador, GM of Team Polti Kometa and CEO of AURUM: “This two-year renewal is a source of joy for me and the entire sports group I represent. When it was signed for the first time, the Colour Project was conceived with a long-term perspective. Seeing it now extended and enhanced confirms its validity in achieving the objectives of both parties. The stimulating value of this collaboration, which allows us to look to the future together, is evident in its dual expression. On one hand, there’s the narrative that emerges from the special colorations in the race; on the other, there’s the sharing of valuable know-how from LECHLER with both the team and AURUM.”
Similarly, sport manager Ivan Basso states: “The relationship with LECHLER is an innovative one that falls within an integrated perspective, adding a high-visibility space for the brand on the bikes themselves and investigating the study of color to generate value. Additionally there’s a socio-geographic factor related to Polti, I’m grateful indeed to the local community in Como that believes in us and I’m confident it will be a success.”
Sealing mutual intentions and trust is the team’s main sponsor, actively involved in building this path. Francesca Polti, President and CEO of Polti Spa, states: “I’m very proud that an excellence like LECHLER has chosen to continue investing in cycling and Polti Kometa. I’m convinced that our shared passion and values will provide us with the opportunity to strengthen the partnership in the area, ensuring our companies an important economic and image return.”
For every bicycle, there is and will be a story to tell, such as the shimmering color of Lake Como on Piganzoli’s bike for Il Lombardia: looking forward to 2025 to tell more stories through colors and paints!
