Lechler customises Davide Piganzoli’s AURUM Magma for Il Lombardia
The last ‘Monument’ of the year, the Classic of the Falling Leaves, will be the stage where Davide Piganzoli will debut his new AURUM Magma customised by Lechler with the motifs of Lake of Como. This will be an important appointment for Team Polti Kometa.
As it already happened in the Giro d’Italia, where Lechler was in charge of customising the AURUM bikes of the cyclists with four different versions, now in Il Lombardia, the race that takes place near the Lake of Como, the competition of the Team Polti Kometa and the company’s headquarters will be united.
Davide Piganzoli’s AURUM Magma is already prepared to compete in this race with maximum guarantees. Lechler has taken into account the characteristics of the Giro di Lombardia, and also the special light of the month of October, to propose the chromatic solutions that have been applied to the AURUM Magma, under the name of Lake of Como.
The aim is always the same: to apply a paint that enhances the line of the bike without forgetting the technical aspects and with an eye on the overall weight of the frame. The coating using the 96261 varnish, developed for the occasion, further improves the durability of the carbon support for increasingly demanding requirements.
This customisation ensures the visibility of the bikes, and seeks to enhance the clean and harmonious lines of the AURUM lines while integrating perfectly with the Gsport equipment of the cyclists.
‘It is an honour, something very special to be able to compete in the Giro di Lombardia with an AURUM Magma customised by Lechler precisely with the motifs of Lake Como. The place where such a special race takes place, where we will debut this special bike’, says Davide Piganzoli, Team Polti Kometa rider. ‘It’s one of my favourite races, also because I live nearby and I know the roads, so it’s going to be a really nice day also with this novelty on my bike.’
‘After the success of the four colours that shone on our AURUMs during the Giro d’Italia, we decided to do something special also together with Lechler for this important race,’ explains Fran Contador, general manager of Team Polti Kometa and CEO of AURUM. ‘We are very excited to take advantage of the Giro di Lombardia, which takes place so close to the headquarters of our sponsor, to implement this customisation on Davide Piganzoli’s bike with the motifs of Lake of Como. I have no doubt that it will look perfect and that the fans will love this new collaboration’.
The importance of ‘being on time’ and guaranteeing that Davide Piganzoli could test his new AURUM Magma has forced the effort of the whole mechanical department of the Polti Kometa Team, and in particular of the responsible Ivan Moya: ‘A project of this kind has as a fundamental part the coordination of everybody: AURUM, Lechler and the team. Once we know the delivery date, we organise everything so that the rider doesn’t feel any difference with respect to his usual bike: same measurements, same handlebar tape… And always with the guarantee that the rider will have that bike the week before so that they can train with it’.
Lechler’s Communication and Marketing Director, Alessandra Damaschino, highlights the union between the company, the team and the setting of the Giro di Lombardia: ‘What colour is Lake of Como? There is no single answer. Our beloved lake changes its mood and appearance according to the seasons, the surrounding landscape, the weather conditions and the sunlight. Being Lechler, like Polti, a Como company and having the privilege to host the arrival of a classic monument like Il Lombardia, we have created a commemorative colouring for the new Piganzoli AURUM Magma, which we have named ‘Lake of Como’, evoking the colours and effects of the lake, as well as some of its characteristics: alive and changing’.
