Diego Rosa, brave in the breakaway at Tirreno Adriatico
Tirreno Adriático (2.UWT)
Stage 4: Cascata delle Marmore – Bellante (202km)
The race faced another long day with no lack of EOLO Kometa presence, with Diego Rosa present in the breakaway of the day and putting all his effort to extend the attempt until the last lap on the final circuit.
Racing at home is always an extra motivation, and for the Italian Rosa it was an extra boost of morale to take responsibility in a breakaway of 16 riders that covered most of the 200 kilometres of the stage ahead. However, the gap did not allow them to dream of fighting for the stage. The final three laps of the circuit, which included the climb to Bellante, were decisive in breaking the lead of the race and for the hostilities from the bunch.
Diego Rosa, chasing Simmons (Trek), did not give up his efforts and even managed to ride between the favourites and the main group before the neutralisation. When the decisive part came, with the big names fighting for the win, Lorenzo Fortunato again showed his good moment by finishing just over 20 seconds behind the winner Pogacar (UAE). The mountains are still to come. EOLO Kometa still has a lot to show.
DIEGO ROSA: “I can only say that I’m happy, because pedaling in front is always nice and I missed it. I tried to take the first GPM but I was overtaken almost on the line, then we tried to resist as much as possible even if we knew that they would come back strong behind. But also today the team rode well, it showed itself, it fought: and these are important things”.
